Author Jakob Gentry

Jakob “Jake” Gentry is a U.S. Air Force veteran, world traveler, and national security professional with a uniquely diverse background. After graduating high school, he served over four years as an avionics maintenance technician, with assignments in Mississippi, California, and the Netherlands. Following his military service, Jake spent years in Silicon Valley’s electronics industry before transitioning into film and television in 1996, where he earned eligibility for the Screen Actors Guild and worked alongside stars such as Robin Williams and Don Johnson.

In 2005, Jake shifted his focus to national defense and security, taking on assignments that included three years in Kuwait and one year in Baghdad, Iraq. A California native who has visited over 30 countries, he brings global insight and real-world experience to his writing. He continues to work in national security and currently resides in Oakdale, California—his “secure, undisclosed location.”

Author Eric Griggs Aune

Born and raised in Southern California, the author served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Proteus before pursuing a career in healthcare, eventually earning a degree in Radiologic Technology. He spent many years working in Radiology, CT, and Nuclear Medicine before transitioning into the IT side of the medical field, where he works today. Outside of his professional life, he has been active in Scouting, outdoor adventure, martial arts, and other enriching hobbies that reflect his love for learning and exploration.

A lifelong reader, his passion for storytelling began early but was paused when traditional publishing felt out of reach. Years later, the rise of online platforms reignited that dream. In 2007, he published his first story on a fiction-sharing website and was immediately encouraged by positive reader feedback from around the world. Since then, he has written and shared twenty stories online, including The Ripple Effect, and continues to engage directly with his readers, answering every message he receives.

Author Mark O Piggott

His first novel, Forever Avalon, was published in 2009, followed by his second novel, The Dark Tides, in 2014. The Outlander War: Book Three of the Forever Avalon series was released in 2020. Additionally, Forever Avalon was made into an audiobook, narrated by voice artist Traci Odom. In 2021, he published the start of a new steampunk fantasy series with The Last Magus: A Clockwork Heart and made into an audiobook, narrated by Melissa Barnes.

At the end of 2021, Mark signed with Curious Corvid Publishing as one of their new authors for this small, independent publisher. His fantasy novella, The River of Souls, in collaboration with poet Ashley Valitutto, was published in 2022, and in 2023, the steampunk historical fiction Corsair and the Sky Pirates launched along with the sequel to The Last Magus, Dragonfire and Steel.

Corsair and the Sky Pirates starts with a chance meeting between Nikola Tesla and Jules Verne catapulted the world into a new kind of power. Author Michael D Strickland

Michael Strickland was born in Mayport Florida. Michael lives in Jacksonville and has written several novels, the first of which is The Crippled Pelican, followed by a second novel, “The Red Cotton Fields”, an epic Civil War novel some 700+ pages long followed by the second book in the planned four book series, “FIELDS OF GOLD AND SORROW” and “ANGRY SKY”. The final book in the series, “The Red Cotton Fields Last Sundown” is now live on Amazon. “The Calling” is available on Amazon. “ALONG CAME A MARINE” will be published soon.

The Red Cotton Fields is a story written in the tradition of great historical epics. The story begins on a Georgia plantation in the year 1850, ending on the gold fields of Australia in the year 1884. This is a story surrounding three southern families (the plantation owners, the plantation overseer’s family and a Negro slave family) leading up to and including the Civil War. Readers will experience the demise of a southern plantation and follow two of the plantation’s previous occupants (Bart Royal, the white overseer’s son, and Reiner Washington, an escaped slave as they rise to become two of the richest men in the world. Also, The Red Cotton Fields is a classic love story between the plantation owner’s daughter, Holly Ballaster, and the overseer’s son, Bart Royal. The Red Cotton Fields is destined to become a classic. Read it and you will understand why. Book 2 ‘Fields of Gold and Sorrow’ was published in the spring of 2015. Author Abe Sulfaro

Abe Sulfaro (1970-2014), Detroit rock musician, author and poet, was doing final edits on his novel “The Antiheroes: Treatise of a Lost Soul” when he died. The novel is a dark look at the gritty underbelly of the infamous urban wasteland that was Detroit during the 1990s and into the new millennium. It is a deep dive into Gothic subculture and includes stream of consciousness self-talk by the protagonist Fade. Abe takes the reader into the desperate streetscapes of Detroit, making you wonder whether some of the happenings were true or fiction. His writing has been compared to the works of Leonard Cohen, John Lennon and Jack Kerouac. Following Abe’s death, his “other” writings were discovered in the loft where he lived over a bar he owned. Those writings include poems, song lyrics and quotes have been compiled and published as “Memoirs de Nocturne: An Anthology.” A family friend, Dr. Ted Fazzari, wrote of Abe that he “left us behind with wailing guitars and the long song of sorrow.” He also left us with great gifts in his music and his writing.

We hurriedly walk across an empty, weed-filled lot to approach the house from the back. There’s very little light. Most street lights don’t work here. It’s perfect. I can only imagine how we would look to an incidental observer tonight, this gang of painted up, crazy looking freaks, and we are truly all of that. The living dead have come to call. White painted faces like death masks, all dressed in black as we stride across the overgrown lot in a neighborhood of abandoned and boarded up ramshackle houses, like a scene from a war torn country or the movie set of some vile, cheap, B-horror flick. We are a nightmare from Halloween come to life. Anyone encountering this spectacle would turn and run the other way…

Author James E. Smith

James Smith is a writer and author of the new novel; 1989: What Happens When A Killer Returns For Revenge. He is married with two daughters and they all currently reside in Georgia. He grew up in a small town in Georgia and developed love from creative writing at a young age. After graduating high school, he joined the US Army, where he spent twenty – years. During his time in the military he went on multiple deployments and received two Bronze Stars, as well as countless other awards and decorations. While serving his love for writing never diminished. Upon his retirement he decided to achieve his lifelong dream of writing his first what will be many novels to come. His goal in writing this novel is to create a great story, introducing them to characters they can love, hate, and sometimes both.

1989: What Happens When a Killer Returns for Revenge is set in the quiet town of Monroe, Georgia, the Penny Murderer once instilled fear through a reign of terror, leaving behind cryptic notes bearing the haunting words “A penny for your thoughts.” Detective Mike Allen and his team managed to capture Samuel Johnson, a man they believed to be responsible for the twelve gruesome murders. However, Johnson’s persistent claims of innocence, coupled with his suspicious death shortly after his conviction, cast doubt on the true nature of the case.

Nearly three decades later, the nightmare returns. Two murders occur on the same night, bearing the unmistakable calling card of the Penny Murders. Author Joseph DeSantis

Joe DeSantis is the author of Three Points Shy.

Author Marcus L. Smith

Marcus L. Smith is the author of A Hidden Village of African Giants.

Author Randall Northcutt

Author Randall Northcutt is best know for The Cusser Club. The Cusser Club begins during an annual treasure festival in the Sabine River town of Dix Knob, Texas, Teddy Nutscalder and his friends Mickey O’Dell and Tommy Crum scheme to help Missy, a beautiful high society girl, escape the lascivious advances of her criminal stepfather. The outliers face constant struggle in a declining quarry town with no prospects. Not only must Teddy deal with an abusive father and the haunting memory of his dead twin sister, he is incessantly stalked by the town bully. Mickey struggles to support his family after his father is imprisoned and is embarrassed by the fact his 17-year-old sister Brandy earns most of the family’s income by dancing at a topless bar. Tommy is going blind and is desperate for a new treatment his family cannot afford. The boys first encounter Missy on a train trestle, contemplating suicide. She attends private Catholic school and has nothing in common with them. Teddy manages to talk her down and although initially rebuffed, he falls for Missy and is torn between her and his quasi-girlfriend, a sweet but dimwitted schoolmate.

Author Ellis Amdur

Ellis Amdur writing has been largely influenced by his life-long work of a crisis intervention specialist and as a 50+ year practitioner of traditional Japanese martial arts. His writing meets right in the middle. His books are considered unique in that he uses his own experiences, often hair-raising or outrageous, as illustrations of the principles about which he writes, but it is also backed by solid research, and boots-on-the-ground experience.

He has published seventeen, profession-specific books on crisis intervention and de-escalation. These include books for law enforcement and corrections, business, social services, and families. A new book, entitled The Good Stranger: Managing Highly Problematic Situations Within Social Services & Medical Professionals is pending publication. Amdur has also published Body and Soul: Toward a Radical Intersubjectivity in Psychotherapy, a combination of a lyrical description of how phenomenology and dialogal philosophy can be applied to psychotherapy, followed by two heart-wrenching accounts showing how these abstract principles are embodied in the real world.

Although he may be best known for his novel, The Girl with the Face of the Moon, Lost Boy and Little Bird & The Tiger. A sequel to the latter, entitled The Tiger’s Cub, is currently in progress.

Author Jeremy Clift

Jeremy Clift is a science fiction author and former journalist. A fan of Adrian Tchaikovsky, Mary Robinette Kowal, Cixin Liu, and Andy Weir, he is keenly interested in how space exploration will change humanity over the next 200 years. His first work of fiction, “Born in Space” is part of his Sci-Fi Galaxy series of novels built around the growth of orbiting space habitats and the exploitation of asteroids. “Born in Space” examines what life might be like for the first children born off Earth. “How would they feel? Would they have a terrible craving to return “home”? Or are they really an extraterrestrial, a space being? Still a humanoid but having none of the experiences of the Earth.” His best known work is Born in Space.

Author J Phillips Crute

J Phillips spent 20 years in the US Navy, 14 years in Military Sealift Command and 6 years in the Seafarer’s Union. He traveled and spent time all over the world, and writes about places that he experienced first hand, before media and the world had access to other worlds. J entered the Navy in 1965 at the age of 17, barely a man, quitting school after the 10th grade. After boot camp, he was sent to Sasebo, Japan for two years. Serving on both the east and west coast he never looked back, retiring from the Navy in 1993. Since he was 16 years old I had the desire to write, and thought about the stories he would write while fighting and stationed all over. He was encouraged by his grandmother Martha Crute, who was the Librarian in Rocky Point School.

Legacy of Crime is J Phillips Crute’s best known work. Legacy of Crime starts with a train robbery in Nevada, which netted $200,000 in gold, to a mafia Don Named Joe Scarlotti, from Augusta, Sicily, who ran one of the five families. The characters are rich and interesting: Lucinda “Barr” Barritonia silent film star from Hollywood who married him, moving to a Glen Cove, Long Island mansion. Bobby Barritoni is a Navy Water Tender from Rocky Point. Long Island who saved the lives of many of his shipmates after a kamikaze attack off Okinawa. Marie is a world class Ballerina, granddaughter of Don Crutini head of a rival mob. The offspring of this bunch set up the second part, which involves a falling out, of a 5 million dollar robbery of dirty money and the vengeful aftermath, with hitmen, car chases, kidnappings, and gang wars.

Author Terry Mark

Terry Mark is a former Presidential Campaign Advisor and Webmaster in the National Hockey League. Terry has spent his entire career honing his expertise in writing and editing. Debbie Schrack is the author of SAVING SOPHIE, a young adult contemporary romance, which won the 2022 Paris Book Award for young adult fiction. She is also the winner of the SCBWI Haunted States of America contest for the state of Virginia. A former teacher, she lives in Fairfax, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. When she’s not conjuring dark and twisty plots or hanging out with her family, you can find her riding her horse or poring over travel brochures, ready to check off another box on her bucket list of travel adventures.

Author Jonathan Holburt

Jonathan Holburt taught English to Japanese businessmen in Tokyo in the early 1980s. In his 27 years in Asia he also lived in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Saigon. He spent thirty years in advertising and has been published in the Wall Street Journal, South China Morning Post, Far Eastern Economic Review, Straits Times, and Advertising Age. He has been interviewed on CNN, BBC, Asian Business News and Advertising Age’s radio show. In addition to Asia he has also traveled extensively in Latin America, the setting for his newest book, “Drink the Sky.” He was born in Los Angeles and is married with two children.

His most notable work is Shadow Emperor. Since ancient times, three sacred objects — a sword, a mirror and a jewel — have legitimized the rule of Japanese emperors. Author David Risack

Dave Spacer is a computer scientist and technology enthusiast. He brings a unique perspective to the future possible uses of technology. With thought-provoking themes about the benefits of technology but also respect and caution needed. David’s notable work is Project Mind River. Project Mind River is set in the near future, the world has changed in wonderful and dangerous ways. Tara invented a sentient AI, but it was lost in a fire. Many accidental deaths are happening throughout the country. The only problem is that many of them are government agents or criminals.

Tara and two FBI agents need to find out what’s happening before it’s too late.
