DeSantis began his writing career as the sports editor of The Roundtable, the student newspaper at Kellam High School. From those early days in the newsroom, he rose to cover national stories for NBC and ABC Radio News, reporting on major events like the appointment of John Sununu as White House Chief of Staff and the Supreme Court nomination of David Souter.
While stationed in Germany, he covered the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria, and later spent years reporting from Florida’s Space Coast, including live coverage of the Space Shuttle program.
A longtime Boston Red Sox fan with a love for golf, Motown, and classic rock, DeSantis now teaches communication courses at Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida.
Three Points Shy is his debut novel, inspired by the true story of Seminole High School’s unforgettable run at the 1980 Class 4A State Basketball Championship—a season he covered during his first year as sports editor for The Sanford Herald.
